Illustrated Map of Carlton Hill

Alongside the local community, we’ve created a map of many local amenities in Carlton Hill, Gedling. In Gedling 44% of residents don’t own a car, so it is hoped that by informing people where they can find Benches, Toilets, Defibrilators, Green Space, Car Parks and Bus Routes, they will be able to walk around with confidence.

This was a collaborative piece of work which has taken a number of months to pull together with partners from the Gedling Borough Council, Age UK, and the community, with our local Carlton Community Connector Sara Davies at the heart of it.

Notable ways in which we’ve captured local opinions and knowledge are by creating an online form for people to submit WHAT3WORDS locations of each amenity, which was then plotted into the Google Map. This was then piloted and sense checked with residents at local community events.

We then took the google map and developed it into a leaflet to make it more accessible for the target audience, who are typically offline a lot of the time.

Should you be in Carlton anytime soon you can find one at Carlton Community Hub, Moreland and Orchard Courts, the Loco Centre in Netherfield, Carlton library, local churches, and with the Connect Health and Notts Healthcare Community Physios and OTs at Park House.
