From September 1st, sports clubs and community organisations across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire can apply for the new Stronger Clubs Initiative. The development programme is designed to help create environments where everyone feels safe, valued, included and able to thrive.
Sport Welfare Leads at Active Notts and Active Derbyshire will deliver the initiative. This will provide tailored support to clubs and groups that are committed to improving participant experiences and creating positive, welcoming environments within their organisations.
Successful organisations will receive a package of support including:
- Up to £1,000 of project support.
- Six months of tailored guidance from a dedicated Sport Welfare Lead.
- Access to training, resources and specialist expertise.
- Support to strengthen safeguarding, wellbeing, inclusion and participation.
- Opportunities to connect with other clubs and organisations committed to positive culture change.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to:
- Sports clubs
- Community organisations
- Voluntary groups delivering sport or physical activity
Applicants must operate within Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire to apply. Organisations of all sizes and levels of experience are encouraged to take part and can still apply even if their ideas are still developing.

- Project completion deadline: 28 February 2027
