Fancy a Fun Run/walk/wheel in the Derbyshire Dales?

Active Derbyshire, Getting Started, News

Derbyshire Dales District Council are hosting a number of entry level active events for the local communities in each of their four market towns, Matlock, Bakewell, Wirksworth and Ashbourne.

The events are open to any age or ability and are designed to introduce those people who are less confident when it comes to being physically active to the benefits of being more active. These events are designed to be safe and accessible for all.

Events dates and locations:

  • Wirksworth National Stone Centre on Saturday 11th February 2023
  • Bakewell Recreation Ground on Saturday 11th March 2023
  • Ashbourne Recreation Ground on Wednesday 5th April 2023

This is the second year this series of events have been held. The first of 2023’s four 3k Fun runs has already taken place in January at Hall Leys Park, Matlock. This event attracted 141 people (adults & children) to take part and test themselves, of which 81% revealed they are doing less than the governments daily recommended 150 minutes of physical activity a week.

Congratulations to all those people involved in organising and participating in the Active Dales series – what a way to give people in Derbyshire Dales and their physical activity levels a great ‘Bakewell Start’ in 2023.
