British Rowing and Love Rowing have joined forces on a new fund aimed at making rowing more accessible and inclusive. Rather than funding one-off activity, the fund focuses on creating welcoming, sustained participation experiences, with a particular emphasis on people from low socioeconomic backgrounds, disabled people, and ethnically diverse communities.
Grants range from £500 to over £10,000, though most awards are expected to fall between £2,000 and £4,000, with more than 50 initiatives set to benefit.
What they’re looking for
Projects should show a clear, realistic plan with the capacity to deliver it. Strong applications will demonstrate how they reach new and underrepresented people, create positive first experiences, work in partnership with others, and offer lasting impact beyond a single activity. Note that capital projects and retrospective funding for activity already committed to are not eligible. Learn to Row programmes receiving funding must advertise places through the British Rowing booking portal.
How to apply
The process runs in two stages — a short Expression of Interest form first, followed by a full application for successful Stage 1 applicants. British Rowing staff will provide feedback and support at each stage.
