Our new resource hub for enabling women to be more active collates national guidance alongside local insights and case studies.

We’ve seen from Sport England’s Active Lives data that women are more likely than men to be missing out on the benefits of being active.

Furthermore, our work with local women from South Asian, Muslim, and Black communities has highlighted the additional barriers they face when spaces and activities are not designed with their cultural and religious needs in mind.

However, change is possible.

It happens when activities are designed collaboratively, centred on each group’s unique needs, and led by members of the local community.

We want to celebrate these successes and inspire further change.

Examples include a water confidence programme for Black women, free buggy-accessible walks for new mums, and training for South Asian women who want to lead community walks.

These stories from our communities demonstrate what really works when it comes to removing the barriers that prevent women from being active.
