The Opportunity: DTL is seeking an exceptional Derbyshire Tennis Centre Manager to lead and develop the success of our home facility. This role will work alongside the Board, LTA and local partners, and support delivery of our county strategy. The role will balance operational delivery at Derbyshire Tennis Centre with strategic growth; expanding participation, driving padel development at the centre, and opening up tennis and padel to diverse communities across Derbyshire. Key Responsibilities 1. Centre Operations & Commercial Performance Lead day to day operations, court utilisation, centre programmes, membership, and facilities to ensure financial sustainability and an outstanding customer experience. Line manage staff, coaches, contractors, and volunteers, ensuring high standards of safeguarding and health and safety. Maintain data driven tracking (Key Performance Indicator (KPI), budgets, utilisation metrics) to inform Board decisions. 2. Support the DTL Competition & Performance Lead and the DTL Tournaments Lead. 3. Build an inclusive, skilled network of coaches, officials, activators, and volunteers at the centre. This role will also offer opportunities to support the development of county training and coach education structures. 4. Strategy, Governance & Board Support. Bridge strategic goals and operational delivery through acting as a primary operational resource for the DTL Board. Provide operational reports, manage action/risk registers, and uphold high standards of governance, financial planning, and safeguarding. 5. Grow Padel & Community Access at DTC. Align County initiatives with the LTA’s Padel Opened Up strategy to expand facilities, coaching, and local competition. 6. Equity Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Support the DTL EDI Lead to enhance and develop targeted programmes for women and girls, young people, disabled players (via LTA Open Court), ethnically diverse groups, and lower-income communities. 7. Park Tennis, Competition & Workforce Work with Derby City Council and the LTA to support the growth of tennis in local communities creating pathways from parks into regular play. Who We Are Looking For: We welcome applicants with a background in tennis or padel, leisure, facility management, hospitality, or community development backgrounds. We are looking for people with management capability, leadership skills and commercial drive. Essential Criteria: Proven operational, facility, or project management experience. Strong commercial knowledge and experience managing budgets, resources, and KPIs. Excellent communication skills with experience managing teams and engaging senior stakeholders Strong commitment to safeguarding, governance, and Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI). Ability to translate strategy into clear, measurable operational plans. Desirable Criteria: Knowledge of tennis/padel (coaching qualification is desirable), the LTA, ClubSpark, and local authority sports partnerships. What Success Looks Like: Thriving Tennis Centre: Continued development of a thriving Tennis Centre; increase participation, drive inclusivity, ensure high court utilisation, and support sustainable revenue growth. Expanded Access: Attract and grow a more diverse player base creating pathways with other community organisations, including (but not exclusive to) park courts, and traditional clubs.
