Keeping Sport Safe in Nottingham – Welfare & Learning event

Join us for an insightful afternoon dedicated to making sport safer for everyone at the National Ice Centre.
This is part of a series of event that occur on a bi-annual basis and are a collaborative effort between Active Notts and the National Ice Centre, to promote best practice when it comes to safeguarding and welfare in the sports sector in the area.
This event is perfect for coaches, welfare leads, club volunteers and anyone who works in the sports and activity space in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire

- 12:00 – Arrival/Registration
- 12:15 – Introduction from Liz Whittington, Active Notts Sports Welfare Lead
- 12:30 – Session 1 – Neurodiversity in Sport – delivered by Zoe-Jane Littlewood from Neurodiverse Sport
- 14:00 – Break
- 14:15 – Session 2 – Good Coaching Practice – delivered by Katy Cuddington*
- 15:15 – Q&A opportunity
- 15:30 – End but Optional coached skating session for attendees to continue networking while learning a new skill!

*Katy has been involved in sport for over 25 years as a participant, coach, tutor, assessor, quality assurer, manager, and parent, bringing a wealth of experience from grassroots to national and international settings. She has worked in a variety of roles across several National Governing Bodies, including British Gymnastics and England Rugby, and has collaborated internationally with the World Gymnastics (formally known as Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG)) and Gymnastics Ireland.
As a member of the workforce for organisations including British Gymnastics, British Taekwondo, UK Coaching, and Activity Alliance, she delivers training courses, assessments, and quality assurance interventions to support the development of coaches and the wider workforce.
Katy is passionate about creating safe, engaging, and inclusive sporting environments and is committed to helping organisations, coaches, and participants create positive experiences that enable everyone to thrive in sport.
