Funding that opens up the world for young people with disabilities

Active Derbyshire, Active Notts, Funding, News

Variety, the Children’s Charity, directly provides funding for manual, sport, and powered wheelchairs that are not available through local authority wheelchair services to help children become more independent.

Parents, teachers, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists of a child or young person under the age of 19 living with a disability or long-term health condition can now apply for funding to purchase a new wheelchair.

Anyone is eligible for a wheelchair grant if they meet the following criteria:

  • They’ve not yet reached their 19th birthday
  • They have a recognised disability or long-term health condition that permanently affects their mobility.

Variety will also accept applications from young people themselves who are over the age of 13.

Funding is ongoing, and there is no deadline for applications.

Click here for more information, and to discuss speculative applications, call 0207 428 8100, or email wheelchairs@variety.org.uk.
