Club welfare officers, coaches, volunteers and community sport organisations came together on 18th July for the latest Keeping Sport Safe in Nottingham event.
The free event, delivered in partnership by the National Ice Centre and Active Notts, is part of a bi-annual learning series supporting clubs and organisations across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire with safeguarding, welfare and inclusion.
Club Welfare Offices, Coaches, Volunteers, and those working communities around physical activity/sport were all welcome to attend.
The session included two interactive workshops. Zoe-Jane Littlewood from Neurodiverse Sport explored neurodiversity and practical ways to make sport settings more inclusive and accessible.
Katy Cuddington, an experienced trainer and coach who currently works for Swim England, delivered a workshop on good coaching skills in a sport setting.
Activities were interactive and there was an opportunity for attendees to discuss what they had heard. And from that the feedback from attendees was positive.
Liz, the Active Notts Sports Welfare Lead, is keen to continue offering these events and make them as accessible as possible to those who want to attend. Attendees and those interested in future opportunities are encouraged to complete the Sport Welfare Learning & Events Survey.
Liz is also happy to work with organisations around their training needs and support clubs looking to strengthen safeguarding, welfare and inclusion practice.
