Sport England’s Movement Fund helps community sports clubs and organisations raise money for facilities, equipment and activities. One local cricket club is raising money through this fund.
What is the Movement Fund?
Sport England runs the Movement Fund with Crowdfunder. The fund offers £300-£15,000 to projects that boost physical activity. It focuses on people who face barriers to taking part. These include people on low incomes, disabled people, and older people.
The fund normally pledges 50% of a project’s target with Community fundraising matching this. Sport England only releases its pledge when community fundraising succeeds. This makes local support essential.
Once a campaign closes successfully, crowd donations are paid through Crowdfunder, with Sport England transferring their pledge within 28 days.
Projects can apply year-round through the Sport England website. They then run their campaigns on Crowdfunder.co.uk.
Gedling Colliery Cricket Club
Gedling Colliery Cricket Club is running a Movement Fund campaign now. The club aims to repair and refurbish its Women and Girls Pavilion at their Plans Road ground. Roof damage left the building unusable last season. The project target is £20,044. Their campaign runs until 4th May 2026.
The club offers rewards to encourage donations. These include membership deals, local bakery brownies, Paul Smith socks and more.
