Social welfare funding

Active Derbyshire, Active Notts, Funding, News

Voluntary groups, not-for-profits, and independently managed charities can apply for grant funding up to £10,000 to support the delivery of charity work improving social welfare in communities once served by Hillards stores. These areas include:

Derbyshire: Alfreton, Glossop, Mickleover.

Nottinghamshire: Hucknall, Retford, Worksop.

Gay & Peter Hartley’s Hillards Charitable Trust’s funding is most frequently awarded as a one-off grant of £1,000 to organisations delivering projects that include:

  • Care for older people – luncheon clubs, outings, winter aid, combating isolation, social activities. 
  • Physical/mental health support.
  • Children’s charities – enhancing sports/social opportunities. 
  • Church-based projects  with a proven outreach factor. 
  • Education – reading support, literacy advocation, one-to-one support.
