Sport Welfare Lead- Nottinghamshire

Active Partners Trust (Active Derbyshire/Active Notts)

A national network of Sport Welfare Leads/Officers has been created across England to support National Governing Bodies (NGBs), local clubs and community groups to promote good practice, inclusion and safe sport for children, young people and adults. This is in response to the findings and recommendations of the Whyte Review, published in June 2022. The Sport Welfare Leads/Officers add capacity and expertise to the existing safeguarding and inclusion work of NGBs and Active Partnerships. They work closely with other Sport Welfare Leads/Officers, NGBs and wider partner organisations, e.g. local authorities, voluntary and community organisations, to connect people working on welfare and safeguarding, both inside and outside sport. The Sport Welfare Lead role at APT will have a positive impact by: Connecting with sports clubs in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and other community organisations in our priority places in Notts to build relationships and share good practice of safeguarding and inclusion. Working alongside club welfare officers and their clubs/groups to build safer, more inclusive spaces by sharing knowledge, experience, and a passion for creating positive, respectful cultures. Enabling club welfare officers, volunteers and participants to create safer, inclusive sporting environments by facilitating learning, organising training and sharing resources. Raising awareness of sport welfare issues and its importance for all people who go along to clubs, by gathering and responding to local insight and promoting safeguarding campaigns with clubs and community organisations.
