Youth organisations will soon be able to apply for grants of between £5,000 and £100,000 (per site) to deliver small-scale capital projects to improve youth facilities and help youth groups better support the young people they work with.
Through the Better Youth Spaces Fund, provided by the UK Government and administered by Social Investment Business (SIB), a total of £30.5 million is available for capital improvements to youth facilities, including capital equipment, small refurbishments, and other capital projects, that meet at least one of the following objectives:
- Improving the reach of activities provided
- Improving the safety of existing youth facilities
- Improve the youth sector’s capacity and quality to deliver a range of enrichment activities
- Funding priority areas based on youth needs
- Improving the financial sustainability of youth facilities
Funding is for groups operating youth facilities in one of 42 priority areas across England that have been selected by the government based on the Income Deprivation Affecting Children Index (IDACI).
Applications for equipment will be accepted on a rolling basis, whilst applications for refurbishments will have a short, fixed window to apply.
