Active Derbyshire, Active Notts, Funding, News

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Specialist Centre for Public Health has launched a £5,000 personal funding opportunity.  The fund is to help individuals working in public health develop research skills. It’s designed for people with little or no prior research experience.  The NIHR are especially interested in people within VCSE organisations, non-NHS providers, and local authorities applying.

The award supports short-term, part-time learning and is flexible around your existing commitments. It can also help with accessibility costs (e.g. childcare, BSL). The aim is to increase inclusive participation in public health research and reduce health inequalities.

Key priorities of the award:

  • Encouraging research engagement.
  • Inclusive research engagement.
  • Flexibility.

The deadline for applications is Thursday 19 June 2025.
