Young people from Brackenfield SEND School, Wings School Notts and Dawn House School took part in the ‘Believe. Move. Achieve.’ School Games event at the University of Nottingham’s David Ross Sport Village on June 10.
All of the young people took part in a variety of activities such as archery, martial arts and circuits, as well as a workshop focussing on teamwork and building resilience which was led by athlete mentor and BMX champion Kelvin Batey.
The event was aimed at young people with special educational needs, and was co-created and shaped by the young people themselves – with sessions held in school prior to the day to gather insight into what activities the young people would like to take part in.
Feedback showed that almost all of the young people felt their confidence had increased after attending the event.
