Sport England’s Movement Fund & Environmental Sustainability

Sport England is typically investing £20 million a year into their Movement Fund programme. Up to 10% of this funding will be allocated to environmental sustainability projects.

The Movement Fund provide grants up to £15,000 for new initiatives that improve both environmental sustainability and physical activity opportunities for the people and communities who need it the most.  

Sport England would particularly like to hear about initiatives that promote and support ‘climate justice’ – addressing the barriers facing those most affected by climate change to support them to access sport and physical activity opportunities.

Sport England can provide either a grant or a pledge towards new projects.  They can fund capital and revenue projects through this fund.  However, they can’t fund general running of an organisation or existing staff.

They are looking for projects that:

1. Show they will improve environmental sustainability
2. Show they will benefit physical activity in the community
3. Have a clear, feasible and reasonable delivery plan.
