School staff from secondary schools, special schools and alternative provisions in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire attended the Derbyshire and Notts Secondary School Conference at Eastwood Hall on Monday 23 June.
The theme of the day was ‘creating positive physical activity experiences for all’ and began with a keynote speech from British Weightlifter Emily Campbell.
Delegates were also able to choose from a range of workshops including Best Practice and Innovative Ideas for Teaching Examination PE; Creating Inclusive and Culturally Sensitive Physical Activity Sessions; Creating Positive Experiences for Neurodivergent Young People in PE; Youth voice: Engaging Young People in Co Design and Decision Making; and Preparing For Ofsted and Future Curriculum Reforms.
Sessions also included topics such as Embracing Gender Diversity and Achieving Gender Equity in PE and School Sport; Outdoor Education and Wellbeing; and Practical Tasters: Kin Ball in an Alternative Venue and Handball.
The day was open to PE leads, senior leaders, inclusion leads, mental health leads, SENCOs, and members of the pastoral team.
The event was also a chance to share good practice and network with colleagues and a number of service providers who took part in a Marketplace event over lunch.
