Grants up to £20K for Projects Involving People who are Seeking Asylum

Active Notts, Funding, News

This grants programme is aimed at organisations working with people seeking asylum. The funding is to support and build on their activities.  The funding also supports the development of new ideas for projects that ensure people feel welcome in Nottingham.

Training Sessions

There will be two training sessions held by an external trainer to support you in making an application. Part of the criteria is that those submitting an application are to attend one of the training sessions.  Both the training sessions will take place at Byron House, 2A Maid Marion Way, Nottingham, , NG1 6HS (Central Police Station).  These will be followed by one-to-one sessions. You will have the opportunity to book one-to-one appointments at the training sessions.

In the previous round of this fund, there was a lot of missing information and misinterpretation of what the fund could be used for.

The dates for the training sessions will be:

  • Tuesday 3rd December 2024 from 9.30 am-12.15 noon
  • Thursday 5th December 2024 from 12.45 pm to 3.00 pm
  • The 30 minute one to one sessions can be booked at the above training events, they will take place on the 10th and 12th December 2024.
  • To book a place please email community.cohesion@nottinghamcity.gov.uk

The above sessions will support you to review the priorities for the programme. This will help you to develop your project and application ensuring that you meet the criteria for the programme. It will also help you to think about the evidence needed for your work in supporting Asylum Seekers in Nottingham. The sessions will help you to think about your organisation, and what you need to have in place and provide as part of your application.

The sessions will be delivered by James Kirkpatrick from Funding Support who has over 25-years’ experience of the grant process.

The criteria for the small grants programme includes:

  • Confidence building and networking opportunities. To support individuals within their new environment, creating friendships.
  • Support for young people and young families through activities such as holiday clubs or groups for families with children under 5.
  • Physical activity for both children and adults including activities such as guided walks, playground use, sports etc
  • Health and Wellbeing Activities.  Supporting individuals with activities to improve physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Addressing isolation and building cohesive communities – supporting integration and building community relationships.
