More than 300 young people from schools across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire took part in the Notts Forest Games.
The targeted School Games event gave Year 3 and Year 4 pupils from 30 schools the chance to take part in a variety of outdoor activities that they may never have tried before at Sherwood Pines.
This included the tree nets, bushcraft art, a scavenger hunt, disc golf and soft archery.
The Forest Games aimed to support young people to develop their physical literacy skills and give them a positive experience of being active in nature.
It also supported them to build their confidence and self-belief, as well as their social and communication skills. Feedback from the young people showed that many of them felt that all of these things had improved as a result of attending the event.
Schools which took part included Abbey Hill, Holly Hill, Hillocks, and Jacksdale (Ashfield); Ramsden, St Annes, Langold, and Gamston (Bassetlaw); Bramcote Hills, Beeston Ryedale, and Fairfield Spencer (Broxtowe); Arnbrooke, Netherfield, Killisick, and Robert Mellors (Gedling); Mansfield Primary, Cresent Primary, St Peters Primary, and King Edward Primary (Mansfield); Lake View Primary, St Mary’s Edwinstowe, Barnby Road Primary, and Forest View (Newark & Sherwood); Whitemoor, Milford, Brocklewood, and Mellers (Nottingham City); and Keyworth Primary, Edwalton Primary, and Radcliffe Juniors (Rushcliffe).
