EMR’s Community Fund

EMR’s Community Fund aims to support communities and organisations along the EMR routes. The EMR Community Fund is designed to inspire projects and make a difference to those that need it the most.

The EMR Community Fund is open to a wide range of organiations including CICs schools, youth organisations, sports clubs…

Applications must meet the following criteria:

  • Projects take place within 15km of an EMR managed station. See route map, although many areas of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire are covered.

All projects must achieve at least one, or more, in each of:

  • DfT’s Community Rail Development Strategy Key Pillars
    • Providing a voice for the community
    • Promoting sustainable, healthy and accessible travel
    • ​Bringing communities together and supporting diversity and inclusion
    • Supporting social and economic development
  • UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (which includes ‘Good Health and Wellbeing’ and ‘Reducing Inequalities’.

They encourage an element of match funding for all funding bids and require a minimum sliding scale of match funding as follows:

* Up to £1,000 No match funding required
* £1,001 – £2,500 50% match funding of the grant of which 20% of the match can be volunteer time with the rest in cash. .
* £2,501 – £9,999 100% match funding of the grant of which 20% of the match can be volunteer time with the rest in cash.
* £10,000 upwards 100% match funding of the grant – no volunteer time allowance.

The EMR Community Fund has no deadlines and is open throughout the year.  They aim to assess applications with a response within 28 days.
