Derby Holiday Activities & Food Programme (HAF) Funding 2024

Active Derbyshire, Funding, News

The Holiday Activities and Food Programme aims to provide enriching activities and a healthy meal for disadvantaged children in the Easter, Summer, and Christmas school holidays. This programme supports the Government’s commitment to establish a Flexible Childcare Fund to increase the availability of high quality and affordable, flexible childcare.

This Department for Education funding has been made available by Derby City Council to enable local groups to provide holiday activities and food to school aged children from reception to Year 11 (inclusive) who are eligible for free school meals in Derby.

The aim of this funding is to provide one nutritious meal each day and to make the positive benefits of holiday clubs available to eligible children for four hours a day, for four days a week as follows:

  • for one week of the Easter school holidays,
  • for four weeks of the summer school holiday period and
  • for one week of the winter school holidays.

Community Action Derby is administering an Expression of Interest process on behalf of Derby City Council and is looking to engage with a wide network of community-based or private organisations, including existing holiday care providers, schools, sports coaching organisations, creative and performing arts providers etc.

Potential providers can apply for a grant to deliver the HAF programme over one, two or all three holiday periods in the 2024-25 school year.

The HAF team are able to read potential applications and offer advice up to a week before the application window closes on the 8th December 2023.
