Baton of Hope coming to Derbyshire in September.

News

Baton of Hope (BoH) was launched by Mike McCarthy, whom you may know from Sky News, after the tragic loss of his son Ross to suicide is the UKs LARGEST suicide prevention initiative.

BoH Tour is led by local groups supporting people affected or bereaved by suicide to carry the Baton across a dedicated leg with stops along the way in each area. Each stop and the finale has events, activities and entertainment embedded in them, aimed to involve all ages and all people of any background.

The BoH are also launching a Workplace Pledge to support workplaces in mental health and suicide awareness. The Derby and Derbyshire event will be using this important platform to promote local charities and services that support mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

On the 13th of September the Baton will be visiting the University of Derby, Darley Park, Derbyshire Cricket Group, Pride Park, Elvaston Castle, Ascot Fire Station, Alstom and Cathedral Green.

Those who are affected by suicide are encouraged to sign up to carry the baton through Derby. Applications close on the 28th of February.
