FaME! Helping to move forever!

Active Notts, Learning

Falls Management Exercise (FaME) classes led by a Postural Stability Instructor are proven to help people at risk of falling (usually over 65’s) increase and maintain their strength and balance and improve their understanding of how to get up from the floor. They can also help participants to increase their social activity, build confidence to carry out daily tasks and bring a sense of belonging to a person’s life.

We know that people’s physical and mental health deteriorated during the pandemic and that a single fall resulting in hospital stay can cost the NHS between £553 and £1,382.

What’s been happening?

Recently we’ve taken a deep dive into a FaME pilot programme, in Gedling that was built off the back of strong connections and a shared vision, whilst collaborating with our Partners in the ICS (Integrated Care System), the Local Authority (Gedling Borough Council) and PSI Instructor Sara Davies (The Active Health Coach).

We have developed a report which is packed with learnings centered around starting a community class from scratch and recommendations for how processes could be improved for improved efficiency.
