The Wednesday Night Project at William Allitt started as a number of local opportunities aligned in Swadlincote (South Derbyshire).
Through place-based working in Newhall with Thriving Communities, a Newhall Community Network helped to bring local stakeholders and community members together every 6-8 weeks, to better understand the need and opportunities within communities. This highlighted the genuine need to create a safe space for young people in the community to connect, which due to the pandemic was proving to be a challenge.
However there was energy in the room from the local school and a number of others to look at how to identify a solution, along with new investment through the first phase of Community Use of Schools.
