Funding from the Rowing Foundation is intended to help organisations and clubs involved in ‘on water’ elements of the sport of rowing who may be too small to apply for larger sources of funding. The foundation also offers funding towards the costs of the refurbishment of boats used by juniors.
Applications will be considered from clubs, schools, or other organisations that are involved in the water elements of the sport of rowing and who are individually affiliated to British Rowing (other than via their governing body).
Applications for boat refurbishment grants must be made by junior rowers on behalf of their club and with the approval of the club committee.
Grants are made for up to 50% of the cost to initiate projects when the applicant can demonstrate their ability to complete the project.
The funding is intended to help with the purchase of equipment such as boats, sculls, oars and essential safety equipment.
Funds are limited and statistically the Foundation favours giving grants for equipment that will be used on the water and exclusively for juniors and the disabled of all ages.
Boat refurbishment grants can be used towards the costs of refurbishing any boats being used exclusively for juniors.
The next deadlines in 2023 are:
- 15 May 2023 (to be considered at the meeting on 12 June 2023).
- 30 October 2023 (to be considered at the meeting on 27 November 2023).
Applications for boat refurbishment grants can be made at any time and one grant will be awarded per month throughout the year.
Capital grants of between £500 and £4,000 for up to 50% of the overall project costs are available, with boat refurbishment grants of up to £3,000 for up to 50% of the costs of refurbishments of boats used by juniors.
