Boxtowe Borough Council
Broxtowe Borough Council is looking to recruit an experienced Cycling Project Route Development Manager to work in our Economic Development Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a project manager and route development specialist to make a difference by implementing an active travel project in the Borough which makes it easier for everyone to travel by bike and accessible travel vehicles. The successful candidate will be willing to take the initiative, have relevant qualifications and skills and a focus on delivery for a project that has a budget of around £5 million. The role comes with great prospects for personal development, and focuses on the planning and provision of cycle routes and infrastructure as part of the Kimberley Means Business Levelling Up Fund project. The post is offered as a secondment but could also be a fixed-term basis. The ultimate aim of our cycling project is to connect the Phoenix Park tram stop and its access to Nottingham with both Kimberley Town Centre/Giltbrook Retail Park and the historic Bennerley Viaduct. The viaduct is already linked to the Erewash Valley and Nutbrook trails, meaning that Derby and Nottingham will be connected by the completion of this link, making this a significant development in provision for cyclists. We are looking for candidates who are self-motivated and comfortable dealing with a variety of stakeholders including Nottinghamshire County Council, contractors, the town council and local landowners to establish routes in three phases. The majority of the routes will be off the highway, although some sections will be on-road, including in Kimberley itself. Experience of working on cycle routes is a must, as is a can-do attitude and the ability to work as part of a small team. The ideal candidate will also show the ability to represent our GREAT values. Broxtowe covers a mixed rural and urban area around the four Nottinghamshire towns of Stapleford, Beeston, Kimberley and Eastwood. Car User, training and development and other benefits available. If you are interested in applying and wish to have an informal chat about the role, including discussing a secondment, please contact the Economic Development and Regeneration Manager, Jonathon Little, on 0115 917 3826. Interview date is expected to be mid-September.
