Cultural Events Officer

Erewash Borough Council

Erewash Borough Council is looking for a highly motivated individual to drive their cultural events programme as part of its UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) allocation. The role will include the planning and management of events that will create cultural experiences for the community located at the Erewash Museum with the aim of improving wellbeing. The Cultural Events Officer will create, plan, and devise an events schedule for 2023-25 with the aim of increasing engagement in culture and heritage. The duties will include creating event plans, incorporating a multi-partnership approach to ensure the events are accessible and safe in line with the council’s health and safety protocols. The role will also include coordinating the operational elements of event delivery including assigning casual staff or volunteers to events and securing external contractors. The successful candidate will also market the events with support of the councils Design and Communications teams to ensure effective participation. The post holder will also support the work of the council’s corporate events programme. It’s essential that candidates have a relevant Events Management qualification or equivalent industry-based experience. A First Aid at Work qualification and/or IOSH Managing Safely qualification is desirable. You will have experience of managing and organising events, together with a sound knowledge and understanding of health and safety and how to deliver events adhering to the council’s health and safety protocols. Hours of work will primarily include daytime working during the week but will also include some evening and weekend working. Therefore, a flexible working approach is essential. The Council is committed to supporting and developing their staff. A culture exists within the team where continual professional advancement through training and learning will be supported and encouraged. *This post is temporary until 31st March 2025 funded through external grant funding and, whilst further extensions to the post cannot be guaranteed by the council, the council strives to continually secure external grant funding to enable further extensions.
