Community Health and Wellbeing Engagement Officer

Amber Valley Borough Council

We are excited to advertise the newly created role of Community Health and Wellbeing Engagement Officer, on a 25 hour per week fixed-term contract ending March 2025. This role is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and will contribute towards an ‘Active Amber Valley’, our physical activity framework and will link with national and countywide strategies, including Sport England’s 10-year vision ‘Uniting the Movement’. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills. For more information, visit https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/uk-shared-prosperity-fund-prospectus/uk-shared-prosperity-fund-prospectus The appointed person will work within Communities, including those experiencing the greatest inequalities and where physical inactivity is highest – to better understand the people who live there, the people and the organisations that work there and how being active does or doesn’t fit into daily life, and look to signpost/provide a diverse range of opportunities for people to move more. Activities and events that are developed will look to enhance people’s wellbeing, self-esteem, and confidence to be physically active. The work will require collective ownership and collaborative partnerships to embed physical activity and help ‘active lives become the norm for people who live, work and study in communities across the borough’. The role will include some travel so applicants should hold a full driving licence and ideally have access to their own vehicle. We know that being physically active is good for us, for society, our health, and even for the economy, but the challenge of how we get people moving more is a bit trickier, and the need varies from place to place, programme to programme, and person to person. If this exciting challenge appeals and you would like to work in a team which aims to embed a culture of inclusivity along with physical activity into their work, we would love to hear from you. If you would like more information about the role, please contact Tom Nelson, Leisure and Parks Manager on 01773 841652 or email tom.nelson@ambervalley.gov.uk or Helen Kellett, Physical Activity and Wellbeing Project Officer on 01773 841513 or email helen.kellett@ambervalley.gov.uk The closing date for this vacancy is Sunday 7 January 2024 at Midnight (Any applications received after the closing date will not be accepted) CVs are not accepted.
