If you think it’s impossible for a wheelchair user to play golf then think again. Not only is it possible but golf is one of the most inclusive of all disability sports. The handicap system makes it very easy to compete and integrate with non disabled players.
The Handigolf Foundation is a registered charity that rents out specially adapted buggies for wheelchair users to play golf from. It is run by its member for its members entirely on a voluntary basis. Our ethos is to promote disability golf and to make it as affordable as possible. It costs from as little as £120 a year to join which includes membership and buggy rental. Golf is also a great way to meet new people as well as getting into the countryside for some fresh air and exercise.
The Handigolf Foundation runs a series of free demonstration sessions throughout the country.
The first session this year will be held at Edwalton Golf club in Nottinghamshire. We will meet at midday for tea/coffee before heading to the driving range where you will be shown how the buggy works and how to play shots from it. Then it will be your turn to hit some balls. You will receive 1 to 1 tuition using a variety of clubs. All equipment will be provided. The only thing you need to bring is your enthusiasm and willingness to have a go. All abilities are welcome including complete beginners. To book your place please please contact Greg on 0791 3642066.
