Active Environment Network Session

Where people live shapes their ability to live healthy lives, and planning can influence many aspects of what makes a healthy place. The built and natural environments can be designed to enable healthy behaviours or obstruct them.
The Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) has been working with local authorities for the last 10 years on creating healthier, more active places. The TCPA recently released ‘Planning for healthy places – a practical guide for local authorities on embedding health in Local Plans and planning policies in England’ and this event will:
• introduce the ‘Planning for healthy places’ guide;
• hear from a local authority with a recently adopted Local Plan that embeds some of these principles;
• look at Sport England’s Active Design principles and case studies focused on how these can be applied to green infrastructure and active landscapes; and
• a chance to ask questions of all the speakers.
