Join Our Team

We are often looking for brilliant people to join our team and help us achieve our vision, Making Our Move.

Are you keen to understand what drives us? Maybe you’re wondering how you might fit in to our organisation? Here is the place to find out a bit more about what it’s like to work at APT, our commitment to being an inclusive employer and current vacancies.

We are Active Notts and Active Derbyshire, collectively known as Active Partners Trust. We are part of a network of Active Partnerships, funded by Sport England to support people and communities across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire to move more in a way that works for them. Most of our roles are funded by Sport England lottery funding.

Our work isn’t about delivering activities, we’re here to empower people and communities to create their own opportunities to be active, in a way that works for them, their friends, families and communities. We team up with local councils, community groups, businesses, healthcare organisations, charities, national governing bodies, sports clubs and more to find out what’s needed to make this happen. That means asking questions, making suggestions, sharing our learning, finding the right partners, and spotting opportunities, all to make movement part of everyday life. Because when we all work together, we can better understand, reach, and support the people who need it most.

When you join our team, you will have a key role in helping us achieve this vision.

Our Values and Behaviours

Our values and behaviours define us as an organisation. They set out who we are, what we stand for and how we work. When growing our team, we are looking for people who understand and relate to our values and behaviours.

Our Commitment to being an Inclusive Employer

We are a committed ally of inclusion, believing it’s essential for our team to reflect the diverse communities we serve. Lived experience—whether our own or that of local residents—drives our work and informs our approach to creating meaningful change. We strive to build a culture that celebrates diversity and welcomes everyone, recognising that sometimes an equitable approach is needed to ensure true inclusion. People from all walks of life are welcome to join our organisation, and you don’t need prior experience in sport and physical activity to work with us. What matters most is your commitment to our shared values and mission. We’re dedicated to supporting each other so that everyone feels equipped to fulfil their role and thrive in their position. From day one of our recruitment process through your entire journey with us, we want you to feel confident using your voice and being authentically yourself at work.

Positive Action and Reasonable Adjustments
People living with disabilities and from ethnically diverse communities are underrepresented in our workforce and are particularly encouraged to apply.

As part of our commitment to being a Disability Confident employer, we guarantee an interview for applicants with disabilities who meet our minimum role criteria. We understand that not everyone with a disability wishes to be considered under this scheme, and we recognise this is just one of many measures we’re taking to diversify our workforce and create an inclusive workplace for all.

We also consider reasonable adjustments needed to ensure you have a positive experience whilst working for us. We encourage new team members to let us know of any reasonable adjustments or support that would help you thrive in your role.

Shortlisting
We strive to eliminate any unconscious bias when making decisions on who to interview. We remove any identifying parts of your application, including your name, until we have completed the shortlisting process. There will always be at least two colleagues to independently review applications before shortlisting is completed. Your Diversity Monitoring form will always be kept separate from your application and will only be used to monitor the demographics of who is applying for our roles to identify any gaps. After the interview process, we offer feedback on how we made our decision on request. We welcome any feedback from applicants on how we could improve our recruitment process to be more inclusive at any stage.

Policies
Our policies are reflective of our commitment to support the diverse needs of our team whilst ensuring we fulfil our organisational objectives. We offer flexible working patterns with full time, part time and job share available for most of our roles.

What is the Disability Confident Scheme?

It is a Government initiative designed to encourage employers to recruit and retain disabled people and those with health conditions. It is voluntary and is designed to encourage employers to think differently and take action to improve. For more information click below:

Some of the key steps we are taking to be a Disability Confident employer include:

  • Ensure our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible. For example, facilitating interviews that involve testing key components of the role alongside talking one on one with candidates; sharing details of the process beforehand to help get the best out of candidates.
  • Communicating and promoting vacancies through a range of channels and using different methods to explain job opportunities.
  • Offering interviews to disabled people who meet the essential criteria for the role.
  • Providing and discussing reasonable adjustments.
  • Supporting our team to develop their knowledge of inclusive practices and disability equality – through informal and formal training opportunities.
