Club Development Officer

Derwent Valley Orienteers

Derwent Valley Orienteers are the orienteering club for people in Derbyshire. Over the last 54 years, DVO has staged 1000 events throughout the county, in city parks, urban areas, forests and Peak District moorland. We have 180 members, many of whom take on roles as event officials. However, we are an ageing club and need to recruit more runners and young families. The appointment of an energetic and enthusiastic CDO will ensure that orienteering in Derbyshire has a bright sustainable future!

DVO are delighted to announce that we have been awarded an Orienteering Foundation grant to employ a part-time Club Development Officer (CDO).

We need an enthusiastic, energetic sports development worker, preferably with a knowledge of orienteering, for 8 hours per week equivalent. The role involves:

––Delivering Beginners and Improvers programmes.
––Working with Committee members to design and recruit for these programmes.
––Following-up with participants post event.

Flexible working hours will include weekend and evening work, attending events close to Derby and delivering the 2 programmes in 6-week blocks. Our experienced club coaches and volunteers are excited to offer their support in the planning and delivery of each programme.

The CDO, if not an orienteer, would need to be a Level 2 qualified coach in another sport. The successful candidate will be supported to gain their orienteering coaching qualification if they do not already have it. An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required, as will a basic first aid qualification.

£16 per hour. Initially for 1 year, extendible for 2 further years.
