Staff Survey 2024 – Why is it important?

Since the inception of the organisation, a significant amount of time and focus has been on developing our culture, values and behaviours collectively.

At APT, we aim to create a culture where:

  • we support, trust and learn from each other
  • we all take responsibility for developing our culture and helping to make the organisation one that we want to be part of
  • we feel valued and empowered
  • we value diverse perspectives and seek to bring these into the organisation and our work
  • trying new things is encouraged and it’s ok to make mistakes – we learn from them
  • we allow time for learning and reflection and we seek to grow and develop as individuals and as an organisation
  • leadership is important and distributed throughout the organisation
  • the wellbeing of our team is important too – we are open to ideas and do what we can to support this, including actively encouraging working flexibly and a healthy work/life balance
  • we care about the environment, doing what we can to reduce our carbon footprint and adopt sustainable forms of travel

Our values and behaviours define us as an organisation – they are who we are and what we stand for. We work hard to ensure that we all live our values day to day and they are embedded in all that we do.

APT Values and Behaviours – a reminder

Values help to guide our behaviour.  Our behaviours are the practical application of our values – translating them into day to day actions.

Make a Difference. We seek to positively make a difference through movement, physical activity and sport. We add value through insight and learning, influencing relationships, strengthening our networks and connections and embedding what works well.

Integrity. We will act with integrity in all that with do, being open, honest and trusted. Encouraging this culture with others.

Collaborate. We commit to collaborate, giving time and space to develop relationships, to listen, to reflect and to build shared purpose. We take collective responsibility and learn together to inform our work.

Inclusive. We ensure we are inclusive in everything we do. We are open-minded and equitable, encouraging others to reflect on how they think and act. We are a committed ally to inclusion.

Passionate. We believe in what we do. We are energetic, curious and aspire to think creatively. We are bold in our thinking, not afraid to try new things.

Our Diversity and Inclusion ambitions have been developed from our organisation’s culture and our values and behaviours. We have internal ambitions to:

1.1 Be a diverse organisation that values lived experience and is reflective of the communities we work with.

1.3 Embed organisational practices and policies that support an inclusive culture – one that recognises and responds to people’s needs.

We are taking actions to realise these ambitions. We would like to understand how this is going with this survey. Some questions will explicitly refer to our EDI ambitions, however, we are committed to embedding EDI into all aspects of the organisation, so please reflect on the ambitions throughout the survey.

The importance of your feedback

We acknowledge that feedback and reflection is vital if we are to continue to develop and grow and would welcome some constructive explanations or solutions that reflect your scoring.

The questions below were developed by the team and based on what’s important to us.

Recognising improvement in some of these areas will require a combination of organisational and individual responsibility, the questions below prompt reflection through an individual and organisational lens. A willingness to share our perceptions of individual responsibility will enable us to learn from each other too.

There are five areas in which we are seeking feedback:

  1. Culture, values and behaviours
  1. Team and individual development
  1. Working practices and arrangements
  1. Internal communication
  1. Overall satisfaction

Given we are working to create an open, transparent and honest environment, we would really like you to put your name to your feedback. This way we can come back to you to ask you for more detail to help our understanding or ask you to be involved in helping make improvements.
